Why the Founder decided to launch Story Reflection Coaching?
Have you ever walked through the supermarket and spotted Febreze on the shelf? Most people know it today as the go‑to spray for freshening up a room. But here’s the twist — when Febreze first launched, things weren’t easy at all. In fact, the company struggled until they discovered a surprising truth about who really needed their product.
When Febreze first appeared on store shelves, it seemed destined to be a hit. The spray could eliminate odors at the molecular level — a breakthrough in home care. Naturally, the team marketed it to households with strong smells: smoke, pets, musty rooms. But sales lagged. But, why?
Then, they discovered that people living in those homes didn't notice the smells anymore, they get so used to it, it doesn't matter to them. In other words, the very customers who “needed” Febreze didn’t believe they had a problem. So, what to do?
A breakthrough happen when they tried to see from different perspectives, when researchers observed a different group: people who loved cleaning.
